Nothing, adieu

                Journal #8

Sometimes in the darkest of hours, life’s true lessons reveal themselves. A greedy man has nothing while a generous man has everything. My blood lust took anything I once cared about, away from me. I have no love, no friendship and no trust from anyone. Frankly, I don’t think I could ever deserve any of it ever again. It feels as though I am living the life of a walking dead, if death were to present itself at my doorstep, I would graciously welcome it. It would relieve me of my grief and misery that tortures my heart constantly. With nothing to do but think, I understand what the Weird sisters meant by Banquo being less happy but far happier. A man who is satisfied with what he has and takes nothing , but gives everything will always have a more rewarding life. However, the man who had more to begin with but takes everything he wants, will always end up losing what he once treasured most. The greed ruins his soul and makes him lose sight of what is important in life. I see now that Banquo would be father of a line of kings figuratively, not literally because his sons’ goodwill would always prevail over my corrupted, inhumane morals. The honour associated with their names would be like royalty in comparison to the dignity left in the name Macbeth.  I am nothing. I was just a man who wasted his life making foolish mistakes that he can never fix. I pray you adieu journal, for I wish that someone would come to break me out of this trap that they call life.

Untimely Death

Journal #7

Not even a thousand words spoken from the most wise and insightful of philosophers could describe how I feel right now. My heart has been ripped into a million raw pieces; aching in my chest, yearning for the one I love. My face is stained with the salty tears that flow as steadily as the Nile. Tidal waves of sadness and despair wash through me. I am enveloped in a dark blanket that strangles any hope that tries to reach me.  I am a broken man, incomplete without my wife by my side. Every second that goes by without her, I realize I should have treasured her more. I was a fool; I didn’t appreciate what I had, I was always searching for something more. What we did absolutely ruined her; she could not take the guilt for her heart was too pure. I drove her into this insanity causing this untimely death to steal her from me. I simply cannot continue, my hand is not steady enough for my sobs convulse through me. Each one brewing more self hatred and guilt, wishing I had never began this monstrous pursuit of ambition…

Scotland will prevail

Journal #6

No man born of woman can ever harm Macbeth! Those are the words spoken directly from the weird sister’s poisoned tongues.  Everyone comes from the womb of a woman; therefore, I need not fear anyone. I AM INVINCIBLE. Why, I was such a fool to fear my people and the likelihood of their tyranny because I am almighty! All shall hail the great Macbeth! Power is at last mine and shall never be taken from me. Not even young Fleance-who escaped the murderous hands of Eadulf, can ruin my glorious reign. I shall be the most powerful king that Scotland has ever seen. Our country will dominate over all others and will forever prevail. The greatness we shall behold will be no match for any other. Scotland will never be vulnerable; it’ll always be independent, fruitful and prosperous. My success shall be known on all corners of the earth and my family will rule forever more.

Eadulf

Macbeth Journal #5

                Eadulf,
I write to you in a time of desperate need. For reasons I cannot explain, but you will soon be able to deduce; it is absolutely imperative that you complete the following task at hand… I need you and your most suitable men to do a dark deed which I haven’t the strength or heart to do. Bring forth all of your stealth and make sure that you are not seen or heard… It is paramount that you kill Banquo and his son, Fleance. Do not question me or my authority. If they are to exist in this world any longer, I fear it will gravely affect our futures. So much so that we could both be executed… If you fail to complete this scheme, I will make sure you endure the most painful of tortures and I will cut off your tongue. If this plan does not succeed, it would be impossible for me to cause as much physical damage to you as the failure would do to my reputation.

I’ve hired you for a reason,

Anticipation and Disposal

Macbeth Journal # 4
I confide to you, diary, very late at night or perhaps early in the morning. The sun has yet to rise, yet the moon’s perfect orb glows in the night’s sky amidst the Milkyway and the cosmos. I hear the stark cry...Once again I cannot get the words of the weird sisters to leave my head, they play and replay in their dull, monotone voices over and over again. It is driving me insane! I ponder constantly if Banquo is a threat to me? If he is supposed to father a line of kings, would it not be more effective if I ruined that prophecy to guarantee that my family shall prevail? Banquo is not himself around me; I can feel deep within my bones the coldness and distrust seeping towards me in the air. His eyes bore into mine as if he’s searching beyond the monster that has replaced me for a piece of the great warrior he once knew. I can tell by the way he squints his eyes at me that he knows that I killed Duncan; that he knows I am a tyrant. He surely anticipates my actions that have yet to come; therefore, the only way to save my future and to make sure he doesn’t ruin my plans is to dispose of him and his son... All the more blood to add to my crimson hands.

Tainted Daggers

Macbeth Journal #3
Oh what bloody deeds my hands have done! Not even the tears of an angel could purify them. Never shall these crimson stains be removed. For I have slain the king, whilst he sleeps...in my own manor. These daggers will always be imprinted with my flesh and tainted with my greed. My disloyalty shall be known amongst all. Guilt surges through me, carrying itself in my bloodstream, poisoning every inch of my body. My mind is forever churning with worries and paranoia. What should I do? I fear that what I’ve done has destroyed me...That I should flee to start a new life elsewhere! But if I do that, what will become of my ambitions to become king? My murder... oh my! It’s strange pronouncing those words. It would have been for nothing, I’d have released a soul from this world to realize that I am a coward. If I run away, I would be automatically a suspect. I must stay, my dreams will prevail and the future shall one day be in my hands. Vehemence and Malice surge through my blood, nothing will stop me!

Bravery and Valiance

Macbeth Journal #2
Tonight my hands will do the bloody deed that my ambition beckons me to do. My wife has questioned me as a man... only a true man would have the courage to slay a man when he is staying under his own roof. Or does it make me a coward that I will kill Duncan whilst he sleeps? Making my sleep no longer a place of innocence and purity, but a place where I am vulnerable to foe. Leaving my heart bare with no defence from merciless daggers... My disloyal, untrustworthy heart! Do I even know love or do I just have a powerful gripping lust for anything that could give me power? Do I love my wife or do I just keep her happy because I know that when she bears a son it will also benefit me? Oh, what man am I? I have the shell of a man for a body, but a weak cowering child lives within. My wife deserves better; for her I will become the powerful, almighty brave and valiant man she wants me to be! For I will be king and she will be my worthy queen!  Together we will rule all of Scotland!
