How are people transformed through their relationships with others?

 I chose Lady Gaga's song Speechless because she wrote it for her dad. She was begging him to get surgery so that he would survive the illness that he had. It states that she is ready to give up what she loved most (song writing, singing and performing),  and what he loves to see her do, so that it would convince him to take the chance and get it done. This loving relationship with her dad made her selfless, brave and fierce. She conveys so much emotion in every word and note in this song that it actually succeeded in convincing her dad to get the surgery. It showed her dad that he would be extremely selfish and disrespectful to take away what his daughter loved most because he was too afraid to get surgery. In the end, out of love for her, he found the strength to take the chance on the surgery and ended up surviving.

Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string"- Ralph Waldo Emerson.  Genius is the ability to be selfless in such a way that one can create moral standards that anyone could live by.  Every heart has the capacity to tune itself to this iron string, to think this way, however it takes more trust and courage to live in such a way. By living this way we could create a more pure and innovative humanity.The world could slowly remove the cage that it has placed around itself due to its common values such as education, government and wealth, and truly live freely. We wouldn't be defined by limits others have imposed on us or not be able to be equal because of discrimination. As a result of our selfish humanity, we have wars, racism, poverty and hunger. In spreading the selfless genius amongst the world we could put a stop to all of this. We could dream longingly of a place where no money and greed exist; no limitations of how we spend our childhood because we wouldn't be in school and no government would exercise control and restraint upon us. This is to say, everyone would be responsible for themselves and misfortune would not exist, every soul would have the freedom  to do anything they could imagine wanting to do. The limitless possibilities would give everyone the ability to dream bigger than they ever had before and exercise the utmost creativity. Anyone could break through the caged way of modern day thinking and advance in such ways that are impossible due to the trap our humanity has become. The world would be a place of purity and good nature because everyone would be accepting and compassionate, all eager to live by the same genius morals. However, this idea of breaking through modern humanity is totally unrealistic because not everyone in the world could find it within themselves to trust their heart if it ever found its way to the iron string. So for now, our only escape is love. It breaks through the grasps that our current values have imposed on us, because we have found someone who our hearts are in tune with. Someone who we trust, understand, live, laugh and share similar beliefs. A person that with every heart beat, we share selfless moments of genius, letting us soar beyond limits. Love is genius and is the only escape to the modern chaos we've created called: humanity.
